Cubs Astronomer’s Badge Day @Bristol

On the 25th of January 2014 the cubs took part in the Astronomy activity badge day at the @Bristol Science museum on the harbour side in Bristol.
As part of the badge they watched a fantastic science show all about rockets and rocket fuel, made pump rockets and fired them at the planets as well as watching a star show in the museums own planetarium.
All the cubs had a good time and were awarded their Astronomers badge at the end of the day.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts swim for local charities

On Saturday 15th March our Beavers, Cubs & Scouts entered the 9th Anniversary Bristol Aztec Rotary Swimathon at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre. Well done to everyone who entered. The sponsorship funds raised will go to the Rotary Club Charities & 1st Little Stoke Scout Group.

Beavers follow the gromit Trail

Over the Summer Holidays the Beavers followed the Gromit Trail around Bristol & brought in all their photos which covered two notice boards at the Scout hut. We decorated cakes with a Gromit theme & then held a cake sale which raised an amazing £24.00 for The Gromit Unleashed Appeal. Each Beaver Scout was awarded the Gromit Scout badge.

Beavers visit to Christ the King Church

On our recent visit to Christ the King Church the Beavers vocal chords were tested practising the Rocking Carol for our Group Carol Service.
The Beavers had done their homework and thought very hard about what they wanted to write in their prayers which they all read out.
Paul Hinckley the Vicar and Dave Barter the Church Administrator praised the Beavers for their enthusiasm and good behaviour during the visit.
The Beavers would like to thank them for a very interesting talk & tour of the Church.

A wet and windy start to 2014 and we wish you all a Happy New Year and good Scouting in 2014.
It has been a busy autumn for members of the Group. On 28th September the Group introduced itself to the Community by means of a Climbing Wall event in the Town Square at the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke for members of the Group and the public to experience. Christmas Carol Service 2013

On the 20th of December 2013 1st Little Stoke Scouts held our annual carol service. This is a great opportunity for parents and friends to join us for the last Scouting night before Christmas.
As is tradition, all of our sections take a small part of the service. This year the Beavers sang the Rocking Carol and the Cubs ‘See him lying on a bed of hay’. The Scouts performed the Readings and provided musical accompaniment on the drums and electric guitar.

Cubs visit to Pets At Home

On the 27th of November and 4th of December 1st Little Stoke Cubs met at the Bradley Stoke Pet At Home store as part of their Animal Carer Activity Badge.
During the visit they had the opportunity to handle rabbits, Guinea Pigs and a Small Bearded Dragon. They also were given an introduction on how best to care for pets and the best food to feed them. Did you know that a young rabbit is called a ‘Kit’?

Cubs and Scouts from 1st Little Stoke take part in JOTI

JOTI – Jamboree on the Internet, is an opportunity for young people involved in scouting to get together through online media. Bristol JOTI took place at 229th Bristol scout HQ in Ashton Gate on Saturday 19th October.
We were all given a passport on arrival, which we carried throughout the session this ensured we visited all zones and if completed we would receive a badge.
Zones included: Technology, Wii, Internet, Food, Craft and Radio.

A BIG thank you to the Leaders, helpers and visitors for the support & help received at our Climbing Wall Event at the Willow Brook Centre.
The weather was kind to us, the climbing wall looked huge, the new sail flag looked great and
the interest we attracted was fantastic. Vertical Xtreme were brilliant with the children, they thought the location was perfect.
